Traditions

Hello, friends!

It's been a busy couple days for the new arrivals on the Disney College Program! We were treated to a party at the Vista Way pool Thursday night (read: free pizza dinner), and that was a solid couple hours of fun. There was a DJ, plenty of food, and new friends trying to talk over the DJ. I made nice with the three lifeguards I had (jokingly) insulted during the day, and then I took a picture. It is here for you:

Those few hours went by quickly, so I headed back to Chatham, expecting to perhaps catch an early night in, since I know how few of those I'll probably have in the near future. Instead I received an unexpected phone call from my new friend, Cassie. We met at check-in; she is a puppeteer! Cassie called to offer me the extra ticket she and her friends had for the midnight Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End.

20 minutes later, I was at the AMC in Downtown Disney.

Friday was Traditions: the Disney history lesson that lasts for four (paid) hours, where we got our cast member IDs and badges. I'll spare you the details, since you'll either hear them in August or just read the wikipedia article if you're that interested. It was nice to hear from people that really care about the Disney magic and bringing it to the guests. Really pumps you up for serving the visitors to our parks. We learned about safety in the workplace (Safe-D begins with me!), sexual harassment policies, and more and creative ways to make magic happen for a guest (e.g., magic moments).

With a cast member ID in hand, it was off to the Magic Kingdom for the night, where we took in the sights, sounds, and spectacular attractions we'll grow so familiar with over the next year.

The Wishes fireworks show was AMAZING, and so was the parade, SpectroMagic. Beautiful.

I'd write more, but I've fallen asleep at the keyboard twice now, and there's a busy weekend ahead!

If you have any questions about the program or just want to chat, message me or leave a comment on the blog post! If you HAVE commented, I'll contact you ASAP! I've read, but I'm low on time and energy!

Thanks for reading, and I'll check in again soon!

Magically yours,
~Bobby P.
